About Tullahoma Utilities Authority
Tullahoma Utilities Authority (TUA) has been a cornerstone of the Tullahoma community for over 75 years, providing essential services to support the city’s growth and progress. Established in 1948 as the Tullahoma Utilities Board, the organization was created to oversee the city’s electric, water, and wastewater services. As Tullahoma expanded, so did the need for reliable infrastructure. Leading TUA to continually modernize and improve its systems.
In 2008, recognizing the increasing demand for high-speed connectivity, TUA launched LightTube, its state-of-the-art fiber optic network, making Tullahoma one of the first cities in Tennessee to offer fiber to the premise internet, television, and phone services. This expansion solidified TUA’s role as not only a utility provider but also a leader in technology and innovation. With 4,800 customers, LightTube remains the only local fiber provider in Tullahoma, offering unmatched reliability, local customer support, and advanced technology that drives economic growth and education.
In 2016, the organization transitioned from the Tullahoma Utilities Board to the Tullahoma Utilities Authority, allowing for more efficient governance and long-term planning to meet the growing needs of the community. Today, TUA serves 11,300 electric customers, 10,800 water customers, and 8,200 wastewater customers, ensuring essential services that power daily life.
Commitment to the Community
For decades, TUA has remained dedicated to reliable service, fiscal responsibility, and innovation. Through partnerships with local schools, businesses, and organizations, TUA actively supports community development while continuously upgrading its infrastructure to ensure Tullahoma stays ahead of future demands.
From delivering essential utilities to pioneering fiber-optic connectivity, TUA continues to evolve, always focused on Powering Tullahoma’s Tomorrow.
