Short Springs Elevated Storage Tank Lifted
On March 22, TUB’s contractor Pittsburg Tank and Tower successfully lifted our two million gallon Short Springs elevated storage tank 25 feet. The 735 ton (empty) structure now stands 180 feet tall. The structure was carefully lifted from the bottom utilizing eighteen 50-ton hydraulic jacks. When complete, this project will create additional water pressure for Tullahoma, resulting in improved water service and fire protection system-wide. To our knowledge, this is the first time a structure of this type and size has been lifted.
