Tullahoma City Schools Facing Reduction in Federal Funding
The Tullahoma City Schools could be facing six-figure reduction in federal funding. according to school officials. A report from the last school board meeting indicated that the U.S. Department of Education will be cutting the amount of Title I funding for Tullahoma City Schools from $790,000 for the current school year to $656,000 for 2017 and 2018 school years. The money is used primarily to fund the salaries of additional teachers and educational assistants. However, it also funds classroom supplies and materials, resources for parent involvement, as well as professional development. The Title I schools in the district that will be affected are: Bel-Aire, Jack T. Farrar and East Lincoln elementary schools. .
